Environmentally and operationally efficient shaft line solutions
Oil leakage from the shaft line can harm marine ecosystems, restrict access to ports, and can lead to fines being imposed. This can be avoided with water lubricated seals and bearings, which are already standard in navy installations. Reduction of underwater noise
An increasingly important issue in the shipping industry is underwater noise which has a direct impact on marine life. We have developed solutions to minimise and control underwater radiated noise generated from onboard systems. These include solutions for propellers, such as the Wärtsilä EnergoProFin, and double suspension for engines to meet the requirements set by, for example, local port authorities in Canada.
