Wärtsilä Marine Solutions enhances the business of its marine and oil & gas industry customers by providing innovative products and integrated solutions that are safe, environmentally sustainable, efficient, flexible, and economically sound. 

Being a technology leader, and through the experience, know-how and dedication of its personnel, Wärtsilä is able to customise solutions that provide optimal benefits to its customers around the world.


Wärtsilä Energy Solutions is a leading global energy system integrator offering a broad range of environmentally sound solutions. Our offering includes ultra-flexible internal combustion engine based power plants, utility-scale solar PV power plants, energy storage & integration solutions, as well as LNG terminals and distribution systems. The flexible and efficient Wärtsilä solutions provide customers with superior value and enable a transition to a more sustainable and modern energy system. At the end of 2017, Wärtsilä had over 67 GW of installed power plant capacity in 177 countries around the world.


Wärtsilä Services provides high-quality lifecycle services that enhance customers’ business. Its broad range of services supports both shipping and power generation companies, whenever and wherever needed. Solutions range from spare parts and basic support to ensuring the maximised lifetime, increased efficiency and guaranteed performance of the customer’s equipment or installation – in a safe, reliable, and environmentally sustainable way.

Wärtsilä is the leading provider of ship machinery, propulsion and maneuvering solutions. Wärtsilä supplies engines and generating sets, reduction gears, propulsion equipment, control systems and sealing solutions for all types of vessels and offshore applications. Wärtsilä commands a strong position in all main marine segments as a supplier of highly rated ship machinery and systems.

Wärtsilä supports its customers throughout the lifecycle of their installations. Wärtsilä provides service, maintenance and reconditioning solutions both for ship machinery and power plants. In parallel with its main service operations Wärtsilä has launched innovative new services that support its customers’ business operations, such as service for multiple engine brands in key ports, predictive and condition based maintenance, and training.

Wärtsilä is a leading supplier of power plants for the decentralised power generation market. Wärtsilä offers power plants for baseload, peaking and industrial self-generation purposes as well as for the oil and gas industry. The strengths of Wärtsilä power plants are their flexible design, high efficiency and low emission levels. In all main segments Wärtsilä holds a strong position.


Wärtsilä had 18,065 employees at the end of December 2017. On average, the number of personnel for January-December 2017 totalled 17,866. Services employed 11,234 people, Energy Solutions 1,038, and Marine Solutions 5,235.

Of Wärtsilä’s total number of employees, 20% were located in Finland and 38% elsewhere in Europe. Personnel employed in Asia represented 27% of the total, personnel in the Americas 11%, and personnel in other countries 4%.
