Sacrificial anode cathodic protection

marine

Ametal can be made cathodic by electric connecting to a more anodic metal within the electrolyte. The most commonly used anodic metals are aluminium alloys, zinc and magnesium. Anodes of these metals corrode preferentially. They deteriorate as an essentional part of their function and they are therefore termed sacrificial.
