Emergency escape breathing device (EEBD)

A self-contained compressed air apparatus for escape from a contaminated environment. It consists of a compressed air cylinder with air capacity of 600 litres (15 minutes duration). Within accommodation areas all ships are to carry at least two EEBD. The quantity of EEBD within machinery spaces is dependant on the layout of the space and the number of persons normally working there.
