The most common bulk cargoes are: petroleum and its derivatives, coal, coke, grain, fertilizers, minerals, ores, bauxite and cement. Dry bulk cargoes are carried by specialised ships, some of which take name after the materials they transport. These include ore carriers, coal carriers and grain carriers.
