Technology group Wärtsilä has renewed its Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Agreement with Indian energy company Caparo Power Ltd (CPL). This marks the second extension of the original agreement, which was signed in 2010 after the commissioning of CPL power plant in Bawal, Haryana, India. The latest renewal was booked in Q4 2024 and will remain valid for five years.
The 36 MW plant operates with four Wärtsilä 34SG engines powered by natural gas. It supplies baseload electricity to nearby industries through its dedicated transmission system.
“Our company focus is on delivering a reliable and sustainable power supply and this is being made achievable with the support of Wärtsilä’s Operation and Maintenance services. Their technical expertise adds considerable value to our operations," says Mr. Raman Chopra, Whole Time Director & CEO at CPL.
In addition to operating the plant, the agreement includes maintenance management, spare parts, operational support, and Wärtsilä’s unique Expert Insight solution. Wärtsilä Expert Insight is a holistic predictive maintenance service that proactively detects potential issues and provides actionable advice and insight to solve them.
“This latest renewal of the agreement is testimony to the trust that exists between our companies. From the onset of the plant’s operations, we have worked closely with CPL to ensure the plant’s availability, reliability and overall efficiency, in line with Wärtsilä’s lifecycle support strategy,” comments James Rajan, Director, Operations, Wärtsilä India & Managing Director, Wärtsilä Sri Lanka.
Caparo Power Ltd is a joint venture between Caparo Engineering India Ltd. (CEIL) and Wärtsilä India Private Ltd. CEIL is a subsidiary of the UK-based Caparo Plc, while Wärtsilä India Private Limited is a subsidiary of Finland-based Wärtsilä Corp.
