Powering the energy future for El Salvador

Located in the municipality of Acajutla, Sonsonate, the 378-megawatt project is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) conversion facility that supplies approximately 30% of El Salvador's energy demand, contributing to the diversification of the country's energy mix through the generation of clean energy and the reduction of dependence on heavy fuel oil and imported diesel.

Invenergy, based in the United States, is the majority shareholder of EDP and has led the development of the project. Construction began in early 2020 and was completed in 2022.

Wärtsilä, a key partner in this project, provides advanced technological solutions and maintenance services, ensuring operational efficiency and plant reliability.

Their expertise and knowledge in power plant management significantly contribute to the project's success and sustainability, guaranteeing a clean and constant energy source for El Salvador.
