Appointments within Wärtsilä Corporation

Wärtsilä activities in East Asia and especially China are expanding fast as the customer base grows rapidly. To meet these developing challenges the China organization has been strengthened.

Mr Clas-Eirik Strand has, as of 1 October 2006, been appointed President, Wärtsilä China Ltd. and Director, East Asia Operations. Based in Shanghai, Mr Strand will also be Chairman of the Wärtsilä companies in Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Taiwan. Today Mr Strand is responsible for Wärtsilä’s Ship Power 2-stroke engines and he is President of Wärtsilä Switzerland.

Wärtsilä’s Ship Power 2-stroke engine business

Mr Lars Anderson has, as of 1 October 2006, been appointed Vice President, Wärtsilä’s Ship Power 2-stroke engines. Mr Anderson will be a member of the Ship Power Board and in his new role will report to Mr Jaakko Eskola, Group Vice President, Ship Power. Mr Anderson is based in Winterthur, Switzerland.

Wärtsilä Switzerland Ltd

Dr. Martin Wernli has, as of 1 October 2006, been appointed President, Wärtsilä Switzerland. Dr. Wernli will be a member of the Engine Division board and report to the Chairman of Wärtsilä Switzerland and the head of Engine Division, Mr Lars Hellberg. Martin Wernli succeeds Mr Clas-Eirik Strand who leaves Switzerland to become President of Wärtsilä China.
