Wärtsilä ship power systems for four Sto-Ro vessels

Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 28 September 2004 at 14:00 UTC+2

The Polish shipbuilder Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa has ordered propulsion systems for four Sto-Ro vessels from Wärtsilä. The shipyard is building the vessels for the Dutch shipowner Spliethoff’s Bevrachtingskantoor BV.

Wärtsilä’s scope of delivery covers the main engines, LIPS propellers and rudders, and the generating sets for each vessel. The Wärtsilä propulsion system guarantees a reliable power system with excellent fuel economy for the vessels. The LIPS Efficiency Rudder considerably reduces fuel consumption, vibration and noise while improving steering properties.

The Sto-Ro vessels are extremely flexible in their cargo-carrying capacity. The vessels will be supplied to the customer in 2006 and will be operated by Transfennica.
