Appointments in Wärtsilä's Board of Management

The following appointments have been made in the Board of Management of Wärtsilä Corporation:

Mr Pierpaolo Barbone (55) MSc (Eng.) has been appointed President of Services, Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Management, effective 1 October 2013. Mr Christoph Vitzthum, who currently heads the Services business, will leave Wärtsilä to become President & CEO of Fazer Group.

Mr Barbone joined Wärtsilä in 1996. He has held several management positions within the Services business, including leading the Services activities for the Middle East and Asia region and the field services globally. Since the beginning of 2013, he has worked as Vice President of Services, South Europe & Africa.

Mr Jaakko Eskola (55) MSc (Eng.) has been appointed Senior Executive Vice President and Deputy to the CEO, effective immediately. He assumes this responsibility in addition to his existing position as President of Ship Power. The current Deputy to the CEO, Chief Financial Officer Raimo Lind, will retire having reached his contractual retirement age.

Mr Eskola joined Wärtsilä in 1998 with a background in international project and corporate finance. He has since worked as Managing Director of Wärtsilä Development and Financial Services, Vice President for Sales and Marketing in the Power Plants business and since 2006 as the head of the Ship Power business.
