Matti Kleimola from Wärtsilä as CIMAC's President

Prof. Matti Kleimola, CTO, Wärtsilä Corporation, was elected as President of CIMAC (the International Council on Combustion Engines) for the next three-year term in the association’s 24th World Congress in Kyoto in June 2004. Kleimola was formerly a Vice President for the CIMAC Executive Board.

CIMAC (Conseil International des Machines à Combustion) was founded in Paris in 1951. It is a worldwide non-profit association consisting of members in 20 countries in America, Asia and Europe. It brings together manufacturers of diesel engines and gas turbines, users such as ship owners, utilities and rail operators and also suppliers, oil companies, classification societies and scientists.

The main aims of CIMAC are to promote exchange of scientific and technical information and to improve understanding between manufacturers, users and suppliers. The organisation also does publication and support work in the area of standardisation.
