Wärtsilä received orders for three BioGrate boiler plants at the end of April. Finnish district heating company Liedon Lämpö Oy has ordered a 4 MW boiler plant that will supply 75% of the district heating for the municipality of Lieto. The plant, scheduled to start operating at the end of October, will burn bark, chippings and sawdust.
Sawmill Haminan Veistosaha Oy has ordered a 9 MW boiler plant to provide heat for the mill’s drying line. The plant will be started up at the beginning of November, burning the bark, sawdust and chippings produced as a byproducts of their production process.
Both orders include the required process equipment, buildings and installation as well as start-up and training.
The third order is for a 2.5 MW BioGrate boiler plant for power utility Hudik Kraft AB, a subsidiary of Birka Energi AB, in Hudiksvall, Sweden. The plant will provide thermal energy for the municipality’s district heating network and will come into product in mid-November.
The patented Sermet BioGrate combustion technology is especially suitable for burning wood waste, bark and sawdust.
