Wärtsilä supplies power system for Australian FPSO

Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 14 April 2004 at 11:00 UTC+2

Wärtsilä Corporation is to supply a diesel power plant for a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel under construction for the Australian company Santos Ltd. The vessel is being built by the Japanese company MODEC Inc., which will operate it in Santos Ltd’s Mutineer Exeter field off the north-west coast of Australia.

FPSO vessels combine full oil production facilities as well as crude oil storage capacity and offloading equipment into one unit.

The Wärtsilä power plant comprises five diesel generating sets, each powered by a Wärtsilä 32 engine. A major factor in Wärtsilä’s favour was the company’s strong track record in the supply of oil and gas engines for the offshore sector.
