Significant power plant orders for Wärtsilä NSD from India

Wärtsilä NSD has won two significant power plant orders from India. The value of the orders total approximately USD 140 million.

Balaji Power Corporation Pvt. Ltd. Ordered a 107 MW power plant, the value of this deal is close to USD 70 million. Samalpatti Power Company Private Limited ordered a 106 MW power plant, total value of which is also approximately USD 70 million.

Both power plants will be built on a turnkey basis in Tamil Nadu state and both plants will be powered by seven Wärtsilä 46 generating sets. The generating sets along with the necessary auxiliary equipment will be shipped from Finland. Balaji power plant is scheduled for completion in autumn 2001 and Samalpatti in spring 2001. Wärtsilä NSD India will handle the civil construction and erection of plant equipment.

Wärtsilä NSD started marketing and selling power plants in India in 1982 and has since delivered close to 2,000 MW to Indian industry and state-owned utilities.
