Wärtsilä engines for Russian ice-breaker

Wärtsilä will supply four engines for an ice-breaker being built by Kvaerner Masa-Yards for operation in the Sahalin region of eastern Russia. The vessel will have three diesel-electric Wärtsilä 38 main engines and one Wärtsilä 20 auxiliary engine.

Kvaerner Masa-Yards is building the ice-breaker for Far-Eastern Shipping Company PLC (FESCO), the largest shipowner in eastern Russia.

The vessel will be supplied to FESCO in 2005. The engines will be delivered to Kvaerner Masa-Yards during autumn 2004.
