Wärtsilä power for six offshore rigs

Wärtsilä has received orders for 32 engines from Singaporean Keppel FELS Ltd. The total value of the order exceeds EUR 50 million. The orders will be recorded in the Q3 order book.

The Wärtsilä 26 type engines, giving an aggregate output of 115 MW, will power four jack-up rigs and two semi-submersible platforms. Wärtsilä will also supply steerable thrusters for the platforms.

The rigs and platforms are being built at Keppel FELS Ltd for the Danish company A.P. Möller-Maersk A/S. The first of the jack-up rigs will be completed at the end of 2007 and the drilling platforms in 2008 and 2009.
