Wärtsilä Virtual Shipyard

A flexible and user-friendly package for developing and editing ship motion, engine, and propulsion models

Integrated tools for testing with comprehensive documentation

Wärtsilä Virtual Shipyard software is a value-added service for our NTPRO navigational simulation solution. It enables ship model development using a modular principle, allowing for easy modifications such as editing ship motion, engine, and propulsion models, as well as controlling and documenting the results.

Modular Ship Model Development

The ship model development process follows a modular design principle, allowing individual modules to be easily modified or replaced as needed. This ensures flexibility and adaptability across various simulation scenarios.

A wide range of ship types can be modelled (see ‘Additional Information’ below for details).

Two development modes available:

  • Simplified Mode: ideal for quick, practical modelling tasks.
  • Advanced Mode: offers high-fidelity modelling using the latest technical tools, suitable for professional simulation environments.

Your benefits from Wärtsilä Virtual Shipyard

  • Design and edit ship models: Create your own ship model or choose one from our collection of over 700 ship models and modify it. These models can be used in Wärtsilä simulators or on your own simulator using the Ship Model Toolkit.
  • Educational tools in ship theory and hydrodynamics: Allow students to run, control and modify vessels in real-time or in fast-time simulation. These tools enable learners to observe how changes in hull or propulsion properties affect vessel behavior and fuel consumption.
  • A Perfect tool for research: it allows users to create, modify and visualise all aspects of model behaviour, effects, and interactions, as well as use the customisable, automated report system to run hundreds of tests. Researches can load additional ship models and 3D area profiles for advanced studies.
  • Collaboration platform for model developers and professional customers or validation experts.

Key features from Wärtsilä Virtual Shipyard
