Major plant for the production of REEFUEL, climate-neutral Bio-LNG​

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions is a key technology partner in the development of REEFUELERY, one of the world’s largest climate-neutral bio-LNG and e-LNG production facilities, located in Burghaun, Germany. The plant is designed to produce up to 63,000 tonnes of bio-LNG annually, using biomethane from organic waste and green hydrogen from wind energy.

Wärtsilä’s Scope of Work​

• Engineering and supply of gas treatment and liquefaction systems​
• Integration of storage and loading units​
• Delivery of high-efficiency liquefaction technology for biomethane and synthetic methane

Strategic Impact

• The plant supports decarbonization of heavy-duty transport by supplying REEFUEL (bio-LNG) ​to the Alternoil filling station network
• ​Located near the MIDAL pipeline, it ensures efficient gas logistics and distribution​
• Fully operational in 2024, enabling 4,500 LNG trucks to operate climate-neutrally
