Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione (CIN) was able to reduce the fuel costs for their high speed ferries by implementing Wärtsilä’s high-efficiency propulsion system. The solution was to use two engines instead of four, reduce the maximum speed and install new efficiency blades. This has resulted in a significant reduction of fuel consumption by 12.52 % at a speed of 21 knots.
