Other decisive factors in the award of this contract were the vessel’s bollard pull capability and improved working conditions for the crew, such as the reduced noise levels made possible by Wärtsilä’s 2-speed gearbox.
“Wärtsilä Ship Design has a reference list of more than 200 fishing vessels built, making us one of the world’s leading designers in this field. At the same time, we have the industry’s most comprehensive portfolio of products, systems and solutions, thus enabling us to optimise the design and the propulsion so as to achieve the greatest efficiency and lowest operating costs, as we have in this case,” says Aaron Bresnahan, Vice President, Sales, Wärtsilä Marine Solutions.
The full Wärtsilä scope of supply includes the ship design, a 12-cylinder Wärtsilä 32 main engine, two 8-cylinder Wärtsilä 20 auxiliary engines, a 2-speed gearbox, a controllable pitch propeller (CPP) running in a Wärtsilä HP nozzle, a complete stern tube including Wärtsilä Sternguard seals and Wärtsilä Sternsafe bearings. Wärtsilä will also supply its ProTouch propulsion control system.
The vessel will operate in the North Sea in the fishing grounds around the coast of Scotland.
