A new Wärtsilä Shaft Generator System for Argo Coral Maritime’s (ACM) ‘Industrial Skipper’ required close technical support during the design phase in order to provide the best possible solution. Challenges occurred, however, during commissioning because of poor water cooling quality and insufficient water flow, and during the sea trials because of poor test equipment from the shipyard and the inferior quality of other non-Wärtsilä products. Thanks to the skill of Wärtsilä’s engineers working closely with the yard, the challenges were overcome and the sea trials were successful.
The 147 metres long ‘Industrial Skipper’ is a 12,500 DWT vessel used for heavy lift cargo. It features two cranes with a combined lifting capacity of 500 metric tons.
