The Wärtsilä Sternguard E Series seals have over 25 years of proven dependency in thousands of applications. The inboard and outboard variants are designed to support medium sized vessels including Tugs, Trawlers and Coasters reliably. These seals also meet classification society requirements for wear and corrosion protection, supporting vessels which may operate in silty or abrasive water conditions. Design reliability is key, which is addressed through the Wärtsilä Sternguard E Series seals as leakage is significantly limited, with easy accommodation towards vibration and axial/radial movements. The seals can be applied with systems using oil or grease with conventional water lubricated bearings. Wärtsilä manufacture and supply several variants: the Wärtsilä Sternguard EK, a non-split outboard seal; the Wärtsilä Sternguard EJ, a non-split inboard seal; and the Wärtsilä Sternguard EL, which is a partially split inboard seal. All variants are equipped with the same performance and design features, and are supported with strong but flexible elastomer bodies with integral face inserts. This supports radial and axial movements with the purpose of maintaining seal integrity.
