Hybrid Ferry & Tug Solutions - development and delivery

Join Wightlink and Wärtsilä to discuss developing and delivering hybrid solutions, offering cost savings in fuel and minimizing environmental impact

Wightlink’s Victoria of Wight ferry entered service in 2018 and serves the crossing between the Isle of Wight and the English mainland. The Wärtsilä solutions onboard make it the most environmentally sustainable vessel ever on this route. A notable contributor to this is the Wärtsilä hybrid management system. This enables a significant energy improvement over conventional systems by running the engines at optimal load and absorbing many of the load fluctuations using batteries.

In this webinar we will highlight:

  • How we build the hybrid solution: Concept & specifications development and data driven design of the propulsion system including integration of various ecosystem components e.g. Jetty electrical and shore charging systems.
  • What we deliver: A review of Wärtsilä's capabilities to deliver and support hybrid and all-electric systems in the USA and Canada.
  • How do we implement: Wärtsilä offers comprehensive project management and site representation together with lifecycle support.
