ADMIRALTY gateway is to phase out. Here is an easy way to bridge the gap

Starting from 1 May 2020, no new users will be accepted for the services of ADMIRALTY gateway, the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has announced.
This will be followed by the further phased sunsetting of the product. ADMIRALTY gateway has been offering an opportunity to simplify ordering, updating, viewing and reporting tasks across a range of ADMIRALTY Maritime Data Solutions.

Internet is available for 60% of time at sea, yet ship-to-shore connectivity is non-existent (Vodafone, 2019). There is an obvious need for a connected environment with the data sharing possibilities.

Connected ECDIS allows secure navigational data delivery, such as ENC, ADP & ENP and weather information to your ship, triggered by the route planning system. Not only is this much safer than downloading from a server and passing to the ECDIS via physical media, but it is also faster, transparent, managed by the route planning tool, and integrated within the ECDIS itself. Another big advantage is that you no longer need to worry about charts, pricing and licenses. Within Fleet Operations Solutions the purchase processes of charts, logistics, approvals and budgets are eliminated. The use of charts is embedded within the service. This also includes weather services.

You increase process efficiency, get a less tedious and error proof reporting, ensure a lower risk of regulatory and stakeholder claims, and build up a common data set for increased transparency and other value adds!
