While most of Wärtsilä power plants are based on land, we also have a floating power plant option, the power barge.
In this solution our standard power generation equipment is integrated to a marine classed barge hull. The power generation equipment and engine hall are installed on the barge deck. Our power barges can be relocated and are therefore a perfect solution for interim power production to alleviate local power shortages where and when needed.
Floating power plants can also provide a faster answer to increased
power demand in advance of coming land-based power plants.
