Michigan State University has been recently recognized as one of the nation’s most environmentally responsible colleges for continuous efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. Wärtsilä is proud to support their continued efforts to reduce emissions at their T.B. Simon Power Plant through a new maintenance agreement.

The five year agreement to their three engines and auxiliaries includes advisory for major maintenance overhauls and planning, and asset diagnostics services, which will result in a highly efficient and reliable plant with low emissions. The T.B. Simon Power Plant provides energy and steam to the MSU Campus and runs approximately 2,000 hours per year. It also provides the steam that heats most buildings on campus during cold winter months, and as well as cooling the campus in the summer.

Earlier this year, MSU contracted Wärtsilä for the modernisation of the power plant with three 34SG engines, operating on natural gas.

We envision a 100% renewable energy future, and we are not alone on this quest. Go Spartans!
