History

  • 1996: Wärtsilä Power Development was awarded country’s first IPP 110 MW Barge-mounted HFO power project at Khulna (KPCL)
  • 1997: Wärtsilä Power Development was awarded a 120 MW Dual Fuel power project at Haripur (NEPC)
  • 1998: Wärtsilä formed a locally incorporated company Wärtsilä Bangladesh Ltd.
  • 1999: First Services organisation in Bangladesh to implement IMS 9001, 14001 & 18001 certification
  • 2001: JICA declared declared Wärtsilä -operated KPCL as a model plant (Oil spill prevention & Control Contingency Management)
  • 2002: Gas power plant installed for Captive Generation at Heidelberg Cement, Chittagong
  • 2003: Captive Power project for the largest Integrated cement plant, Lafarge Surma Cement
  • 2005-2009: Gas IPP Projects of 210 MW installed
  • 2008: Establishes workshop in Chittagong
  • 2011- 2012: Installation, commissioning & handing over of 900 MW HFO & duel fuel plants
  • 2011: 100 MW SNPL plant powered by Wärtsilä was given Gold Award for The Best Fast Track project in Asia
  • 2011: A Wärtsilä Bangladesh O&M site achieves Customer Care Award from Wärtsilä Corporation
  • 2011: Customer Assistance Centre (CAC), Technical Services (TS) & Quality Department established
  • 2011: Wärtsilä Bangladesh Ltd Project Installation & Commissioning Team taken under global pool
  • 2012: Successful recovery of Dredger Khanak, most complicated service project in this region

  • 2017: Establishes local warehouse to ensure faster support to local customers.
  • 2018: Wärtsilä Bangladesh receives EnergyUp 2018 Award.
  • 2018: Wärtsilä Bangladesh launches Digital Expertise Centre.
  • 2018: Approx.1,800 MW signed for New power plant projects.
  • 2019: Wärtsilä Bangladesh receives Operational Excellence Award 2019 from Wärtsilä Corporation.
  • 2019: Napier Turbo charger servicing facility established in Gazipur Workshop and is certified by Napier Turbochargers.
  • 2020: During the pandemic & lock down period  rebuilding project including replacement of Engine block from local stock successfully completed with customer’s full satisfaction to uphold the strength and competency of local resources in the global arena
  • 2021: Wärtsilä Bangladesh E&A team has demonstrated the first-ever engine relocation service in Bangladesh by developing a solution-oriented methodology to meet customer demand successfully.
  • 2021: Wärtsilä Bangladesh organized its first-ever Virtual Webinars with Bangladesh Power Development Board on Future Energy Trends & Wärtsilä’s Technological Evolution through an Interactive learning and knowledge-sharing session.
  • 2022: 2nd Generation Unified Control System first ever implemented and successfully commissioned with the Wärtsilä 34SG Engine in Bangladesh.
  • 2022: Over 2100 MW of installation has been covered under the agreements where Expert Insight Operational support & KIOSK and data-driven innovation has been established through the Dhaka Expertise Center.
