Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 26 May 2004 at 09:00 UTC+2

The Cambodian Khmer Electrical Power Co Ltd (KEP) has awarded a contract to a consortium led by Wärtsilä Corporation to supply a 30 MW diesel power plant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Wärtsilä’s share from the deal is approximately EUR 10 million. KEP is the first Cambodian owned independent power producer.

The plant will consist of four Wärtsilä 32 engines. The plant will operate on baseload, burning heavy fuel oil. The plant will be operational in March 2005, and it will deliver electricity to the Cambodian national grid. Wärtsilä and KEP have further entered into a spare parts supply agreement for the commercial lifetime of the plant.

This power plant installation in Phnom Penh is already third power plant which Wärtsilä has delivered to Cambodia.
