Wärtsilä has received an order for four Wärtsilä 64 engines at the beginning of this year. The engines will be installed as the main engines in four multi-purpose vessels that are being built at the Stocznia Szczecinska Nowa Sp.z.z. shipyard in Poland. The ships have been ordered by the Dutch shipowner Spliethoff Bevrachtningskantoor B.V. Each vessel will also be fitted with Wärtsilä Lips propellers and other equipment.
The vessels are repeat orders to a series of ten vessels supplied previously to the same shipowner. These four new ships will be completed next year and in April 2005. The engines will be manufactured at Wärtsilä’s Trieste factory in Italy. The Wärtsilä 64 is the most powerful medium-speed engine on the market.
