Wärtsilä wins order for containership engine

Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 28 December 2004 at 10:00 UTC+2

The Hamburg-based shipyard J.J. Sietas KG Schiffswerft GmbH & Co. has ordered from Wärtsilä a Wärtsilä 64 engine for a multipurpose containership being built for the German owner Reederei H.P. Wegener. The multipurpose containership can carry both containers and bulk cargo. The engine will be delivered in September 2005.

Major factors in winning the order were the high efficiency of the engine, its low lifetime costs, and the compact design of the machinery, taking little space on the ship. The Wärtsilä 64 is the largest in Wärtsilä’s range of engines and the most powerful medium-speed engine on the market.
