Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 26 April 2005 at 11:00 UTC+2

Wärtsilä has won a turnkey contract to supply an 18 MW gas-fuelled power plant to Videocon Narmada Glass in Bharuch, Gujarat State, India. The company manufactures glass shells for colour television tubes. The first phase of the power plant was ordered in December 2004 and the second in April this year.

The customer chose Wärtsilä gas engines for their reliability. Other important factors were Wärtsilä’s many earlier power plant deliveries to industry in India and its excellent service support.

The Videocon Narmada Glass factory in Bharuch is the largest manufacturer in India of glass shells for colour television tubes. The company is currently doubling its output. The new power plant will serve the factory’s new capacity with electricity and heat.
