Wärtsilä supplies power plant for Milan airport

Wärtsilä and Commissioning Italia SpA have jointly won a turnkey contract to supply a 24 MW combined heat and power plant for Linate airport in Milan, Italy. The plant will be handed over to the customer, Malpensa Energia Srl, in March 2006.

Wärtsilä is responsible for the plant’s design and for the supply of its equipment. Commissioning Italia SpA’s role is to handle the power plant’s construction.

The plant will be powered by three Wärtsilä gas engines. Besides generating electricity, also for the national grid, the plant is designed for maximum heat recovery for airport heating services and air conditioning.
