Wärtsilä to supply gas power plant to Bangladesh

Wärtsilä has been awarded a contract by Surma Energy Ltd, part of Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd, to supply a 30 MW gas power plant for a new cement plant in northeast Bangladesh. The value of the order is approximately EUR 15 million. The power plant ordered in December is due for commissioning in early 2005.

The power plant will be installed with four gas engines for baseload operation and two diesel engines for peak load operation. The power plant will operate independently of any external network.
