Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 14 December 2004 at 10:00 UTC+2

Wärtsilä has signed in India the first Operation and Maintenance (O&M) contract for a coal-fired power plant in the company’s history. The customer is a leading cement producer in India and the contract covers the customer’s 15 MW coal-fired steam turbine power plant. The contract marks significant progress for Wärtsilä in broadening the scope of its O&M agreements beyond oil- and gas-fired power plants.

Wärtsilä concluded its first O&M contract in India in 1998. The company’s portfolio of O&M contracts today covers 62 oil- or gas-fired power plants in India representing a total output of 652 MW.

All in all, Wärtsilä has approximately 150 O&M contracts for power plants around the world covering an aggregate power output of roughly 2.600 MW.
