New Functional Organization in Wärtsilä Power Plants Division

To increase our customer focus and to strengthen platform for future growth a new functional organization with global responsibilities has been implemented as of 22 November 2002.

The following appointments have been made in this connection.


Sales Management
The sales organization is responsible for identifying customer needs and target projects, leading the sales process, and closing the sales deals.

This function is headed by Pekka Ilvonen, Vice President.
Mr Ilvonen rejoins Wärtsilä from the position of Business Area Manager at ABB Process Industries Management in Zurich, Switzerland.


Delivery Management
The overall responsibility of this function is to take care of customer deliveries.

This function is headed by Osmo Härkönen, Vice President. Mr Härkönen held a corresponding position in the previous organization.


Solutions Management
Solutions management is responsible for the division’s offering to the market in co-operation with the sales organisation.

This function is headed by Jukka Ylänen, Vice President. Mr Ylänen was previously President of Wärtsilä Italia.


Development & Technology
The function is responsible for keeping the offering competitive in current and future markets with special focus on standardization and modularization.

This function is headed by Stefan Gros, Vice President. Mr Gros held a corresponding position in the previous organization.

Supply Market Management
This function will be responsible for supply market intelligence, strategic sourcing, purchasing and supplier management.

This function is headed by Hannu Uusi-Pohjola, Vice President. Mr Uusi-Pohjola held a corresponding position in the previous organization.


Biopower will continue as a separate business unit headed by Jussi Heikkinen, Vice President. There will be no organizational changes in Biopower.


Support functions
 
Wärtsilä Development & Financial Services. Jaakko Eskola continues as President of WDFS.

Finance & Business Control: Jan-Erik Nordmyr, Vice President, continues to head the function.

Business & Competence Development: Esa Kivineva has been appointed Vice President of this function. Mr Kivineva joined Wärtsilä in March 2002 and has previously worked as Management Consultant in McKinsey & Company.

The above mentioned Vice Presidents report to Pekka Ahlqvist, Group Vice President, Head of the Power Plants Division.
