The 4th Suppliers’ Day took place in Helsinki, Finland, on 6 and 7 September 2011. During the event 130 of Wärtsilä’s suppliers gathered to discuss current issues and future cooperation. The theme of the two-day event was “On the move together”.
Speakers of the event included the new President and CEO of Wärtsilä Mr Björn Rosengren (above) and the heads of Wärtsilä's businesses: Mr Vesa Riihimäki, Power Plants; Mr Jaakko Eskola, Ship Power and Mr Christoph Vitzthum, Services. Also present was Lars Hellberg, the head of Wärtsilä Industrial Operations. Head of Supply Management Yngve Bärgård acted as the host for the event.
The two-day seminar focused on the importance of close cooperation between Wärtsilä and its suppliers. Among other topics discussed were continuous quality improvement and the increasing demand for more sustainable solutions and products.
During the seminar a Supplier Award was awarded to eight suppliers.
