Bulk cargo

marine

Cargo which is brought aboard unpacked and has flowing, pumping or pouring properties. The most common bulk cargoes are: petroleum and its derivatives, coal, coke, grain, fertilizers, minerals, ores, bauxite and cement. Dry bulk cargoes are carried by specialised ships, some of which take name after the materials they transport. These include ore carriers, coal carriers and grain carriers.

Solid bulk cargo  – Any material, other than liquid or gas, consisting of a combination of particles, granules or any larger pieces of material, generally uniform in composition, and loaded directly into the cargo spaces without any intermediate form of containment.
