Cunial material provides excellent casting, machining and fatigue properties. An additional advantage is the good repairability. Wärtsilä FP propellers can be made to meet all requirements for the number and size of the blades.

They are designed using the most advanced technology and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure the highest possible levels of performance and efficiency. As a result, owners and operators gain the benefits of lower operating costs and a reduced environmental footprint through less fuel consumption and fewer exhaust emissions.
The Wärtsilä FPP OPTI Design is the result of more than 100 years of experience and the use of the most advanced design tools available. By being able to thoroughly analyse both propeller performance and the propeller-hull interaction, it provides maximised efficiency. Model tests can be reduced and full-scale performance can be covered. It is simply a better propeller design concept that meets the needs of today’s market.
Fitting a nozzle increases the thrust at relatively low ship speeds. Significant savings can be achieved in terms of fuel consumption, depending on the number of revolutions and the capacity of the engine.
The improved Wärtsilä High Performance Nozzle, type HPN, combined with Wärtsilä propellers, can provide up to 5% more thrust than conventional nozzles in bollard pull condition. The nozzle profile offers a double profiled cross section at the inlet side of the nozzle.
The Wärtsilä EnergoProFin is a propeller cap with fins, rotating together with the propeller, resulting in fuel oil savings up to 5%. Fuel prices have increased considerably over the last years, making propulsion efficiency even more important than before.
The EnergoProFin improves propulsive efficiency by weakening the hub vortex. Weakening the hub vortex decreases propeller resistance and manifests itself as increased propulsion thrust. Installing the Wärtsilä EnergoProFin (WEPF) could increase the overall propulsion efficiency by up to 5 % with a payback time of less than one year. In addition to the improved propulsive efficiency, the EnergoProFin can also be applied to reduce propeller-induced noise and vibrations.
The Wärtsilä EnergoProFin is suitable for all new builds and existing vessels regardless of propeller make. The EnergoProFin is only applicable to vessels with fixed pitch propellers.
