Hi, my name is Lisa. I was born in Poole, in the UK and lived here all my life. I have many fond memories of my first experience in customer service during a Saturday job in Woolworth’s, a British retail company that owned the high street. King of pic n mix and entertainment which sadly, fell into administration as online retail grew, the end of everyone's favourite store and the demise of the high street.

Hamworthy Engineering

Many more good times were ahead of me when back in 1986, when I went on to join Hamworthy Engineering, then part of the Powell Duffryn Group, and once Poole’s biggest employer.

This was a company with an excellent apprenticeship scheme that many wanted to be part of.  I was proud to be part of that community and now a lawful member of the Hamworthy 21 Club.  My service with the company has become a long mutual partnership, I have had many roles within my career, and I really care about the company I work for and its environment and values.

I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with some amazing colleagues, far and wide, throughout my journey.  They have been my support and become some of my closest friends, friends I’ll have forever.  People come and go, but I always look forward to welcoming new faces around the corner.  These colleagues are one of the reasons I love coming to work every day.

An ever changing environment

I’ve experienced numerous changes within the business along the way, from typing a Telex - once the original form of reliable long distance data transmission, to sending electronic emails now such a big part of our everyday.  I saw the opening of our new Suzhou factory in China, and later following the acquisition by Wärtsilä saw the closure of the old Poole factory, the end of the machine, fitting and test shops and finally moving our warehouse and stock of spare parts into Wartsila Global Logistics, in The Netherlands.  I won’t lie it hasn’t been easy, but we never give up, we always pull through and we will continue to do so again when needed because we have the right team on board with drive and enthusiasm to make us successful.

I have gained a wealth of experience working in Aftersales and deliver great customer service.  I am always pleased to help and support our colleagues and customers with my knowledge of the Water & Waste portfolio for which we sell parts for.

Every day brings exciting new challenges and each one has developed me to become the expert I am today.   I use my knowledge and experience to assist in developing our business functions, procedures, and practices, keeping lean and streamlining the way of working.  I look forward to preparing the Water & Waste business for the next step of our journey.

Outside of work ...

I am married and a busy working mum of two boys.  Living on the beautiful South Coast of England with its glorious sandy beaches and our World Heritage Jurassic coastline isn’t such a bad thing… I love to be close by the sea and often go for long walks or simply relaxing in the sunshine watching the world go by.  A few steps in the other direction we are in the rustic countryside surrounded by nature.  I can't think of a reason why anyone would not like it. When I am not walking around beautiful Dorset, I enjoy crafting a perfect way to exercise my creativity.  I love crafting on my own as it’s great thinking time.  Scrapbooking gives me something creative for myself or my family to record our special moments and share the memories we make.  When possible as a family we enjoy exploring new places. The pandemic made travel difficult but as the world is adapting, my fingers are crossed that new vacations are soon on the horizon.

I also love baking and eating cake!
