Chris Chung

Director Sales & Ecosystem Development, Wärtsilä Voyage

Chris Chung is the Director of Digital Innovation & Strategic Projects with Wartsila. Based in Singapore, Chris overseas ecosystem development that identify and develop solutions to pressing client and societal challenges where smart technology and innovation can have a transformative role. A strong believer in partnerships and open innovation, Chris’ team brings together technologists, entrepreneurs, business leaders, policy makers, researchers, and other change agents to uncover and implement solutions to specific, actionable challenges. Focus areas include intelligent vessels, connected smart ports, digital fleet operations, cybersecurity and data analytics. Before joining Wartsila, Chris held a number of leadership roles in Lloyd's Register, British Gas and Telstra.

Mathias Sennicksen

General Manager – Smart Vessel, Wärtsilä Voyage

Mathias holds the role of General Manager – Smart Vessel at Wartsila Voyage. Wärtsilä Voyage – a business unit of Wartsila Group - combines bridge infrastructure, cloud data services, decision support systems, and smart port solutions to connect smart vessels to smart ports. In this capacity, he is responsible for the commercialization of autonomous, semi-autonomous and decision support technologies in the region. Prior to joining Wartsila, he held various roles in chartering, operations, ship brokerage and ship agency with a number of shipping companies. He made the switch in career direction after experiencing numerous inefficiencies both onboard and ashore, that could easily be solved with modern technology. His main motivation today is to combine his industry expertise with the capabilities of a technology company, to remove the inefficiencies experienced in the past, and in the process make life just a little bit greener, safer and easier for everyone involved. Mathias was educated through Maersk’s inhouse shipping education, and later embarked on an executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics at Copenhagen Business School.

Dominic Ng

Global Head of Solutions Advisory, Wärtsilä Voyage

Dominic Ng has connected requirements from the shipping industry with the software and modern technologies for over 20 years. He spent 10 years with DNV GL leading a business unit responsible for digital transformation initiatives, delivering fleet performance management projects to global customers to help save fuel, cut emissions, and lower operational costs for shipping companies. Currently, as the Head of Solution Advisory, he is involved in developing Wärtsilä’s smart marine ecosystem to drive forward data enabled applications and help customers’ meet their digital and decarbonisation goals.

Bhupesh Gandhi

Simulation Expert, Wärtsilä Voyage

Bhupesh works with Wartsila Voyage, he is a Master Mariner and a MBA from University of Southern New Hampshire. He has impressive credentials in Maritime Technology  and has worked with   companies  e.g NAVICO  MARIS, TRANSAS and Teledata . He brought tremendous growth to the businesses. Prior to moving to Singapore in 2003, he worked at TS Rajendra/Chanakya, Ispat Industries (now known as Arcelor Mittal), IMS Shipping and Seabuzz.com (1999); a Dot Com venture which was a first of its kind e-commerce marketplace for the Indian Shipping Industry, subscribed and endorsed by major Shipping companies globally. Before joining Wartsila, Bhupesh had founded Group Nautical Pte Limited - a maritime technology start-up focused on bringing emerging technologies to the Maritime Industry such as paperless document management. The primary focus being on Blockchain, AI, Machine Learning, 3D – Modelling, WebGL and AR/VR Technologies.

Nikhil Dravid

Navigation Expert, Wärtsilä Voyage

Nikhil works with Wärtsilä Voyage, he is an ex Master Mariner and studied Executive MBA from SMU Business School. He is a prominent member in various maritime forums. Nikhil plays an integral role to co-create value through combining his extensive experience with capabilities of technology company and evolving industry standards. Prior to joining Wärtsilä, he was Head of Marine Standards and Compliance with a shipping company and focal point for digital technologies. He switched his career trajectory to leverage on his expertise and facilitate several stakeholders/ users in the Industry by connecting the digital dots to enhance situational awareness, step-up safety of navigation, eliminate process inefficiencies and raise the bar of performance and reliability index.

Ben Chng

Vice President Customer Success, Wärtsilä Voyage

Ben Chng was appointed Wartsila Voyage Managing Director, APAC in April 2022. Wärtsilä Voyage – a business unit of Wartsila Group - combines bridge infrastructure, cloud data services, decision support systems, and smart port solutions to connect smart vessels to smart ports. In this capacity, he leads Voyage’s activities in the APAC region including Sales, Operations and Business Development, and is responsible for the growth and development of the region. Prior to joining Wärtsilä Voyage, he was the Vice President of South Asia & Sales Support Asia for Kongsberg Maritime, and Board Member for Kongsberg Maritime CM India. He has rich international experience from his previous roles and was earlier based in Dubai, being responsible for the Middle East and South Asia region for Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine. He graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration from Manchester Business School, and holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Distinction) in Mechanical Engineering from University of Leicester, UK.

Naveen Selvam

Business Development Manager, American Bureau of Shipping

Naveen brings over 10 years of experience in the maritime industry, having started his career in space operations at NASA, where he had responsibility for the electrical power systems for the International Space Station. After joining ABS, Naveen has been performing cyber-risk assessments onboard and discovering vulnerabilities different types of ships. Now he is responsible for the Business Development of Industrial Cyber Security for ABS Group in Asia-Pacific-Japan, with particular focus in protecting critical national infrastructure in Marine & Offshore, Energy & Power, and Oil & Gas industries.

Vikrant Malhotra

Managing Director, Anglo-Eastern Shipmanagement

Vikrant commenced his sea career in 1990, joining Anglo-Eastern as Chief Officer in 1997, before attaining command and subsequently moving ashore into QHSE as an internal auditor in 2004 and relocating to Hong Kong in 2005. He was appointed Director of Group QHSE in 2016, with oversight for 45 internal ISM auditors and QHSE activities for the group, including a fleet of more than 600 vessels. He also oversaw the group’s cadet development programme and competency mapping initiative for various ranks on board and ashore. More recently, Vikrant relocated to Singapore as Managing Director of Anglo-Eastern’s Singapore dry cargo division, handling all aspects of the bulk carrier fleet. Since then, he has been working with various stakeholders to raise the operational and safety standards in the sector.

Arvind Karandikar

Marine Assurance, Executive Ship management

Capt. Karandikar joined Executive Ship Management, Singapore in 2012 and has been in the forefront of reviewing and streamlining HSEQA procedures as well as setting up voluntary Environmental Compliance program. He has been an integral part of developing new IT Platform for the organization lending over 35 years of his experience in the industry. A Master Mariner, he has sailed onboard a wide range of vessels and joined ashore in 1997 as Superintendent, working his way up acquiring rich experience in all facets of ship management and operations. For over five years, Capt. Karandikar also served in Executive Offshore Pte Ltd, an Executive Group company, which owns and operates MPSVs and AHTS vessels operating in South East Asia.

Ng Yi Han

Director Innovation, Talent and Technology Development, MPA Singapore

Prior to his current role, he was in the Sea Transport Division under the Singapore Ministry of Transport overseeing maritime policies and programmes. Yi Han graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering under the National University of Singapore and holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His experience covers R&D promotion, manpower development and strategic planning.
