Integrated Ship Control Solutions for ship owners who value quality and safety."

Wärtsilä Valmarine has long been at the forefront of technological development to provide customers with greater value and optimised solutions. In line with our policy of continuous product development, we now introduce the 4th generation technology platform for advanced ship automation systems. This new version of the system, the Wärtsilä NACOS VALMATIC Platinum, is based on 30 years of experience and is a powerful state-of-the-art distributed process control and monitoring system.

Commercial Navigation

Wärtsilä’s navigation product range comprises a broad portfolio of systems applicable to all types and sizes of vessels. Our offering ranges from highly sophisticated integrated systems, to standard navigation systems of any size, or individual products for retrofit applications. The latest generation of Wärtsilä NACOS Platinum integrated navigation control systems represents a complete series of navigation products based on the latest hardware and software technologies. This series of products offers unprecedented features in terms of usability, scalability and networking, and is made possible by a single hardware and software platform.

Naval Navigation

Wärtsilä NACOS Platinum Naval Navigation includes multi-functional workstations that form an extremely versatile and redundant system. Each workstation is a master containing the software for selecting, monitoring and operating all applications, meaning that the system is not client/server based. It offers a full range of functions, such as Navigation Radar, WECDIS, Conning Display and Sonar Display. It is also possible to integrate several other systems. A variety of military and commercial radar heads may be employed as sensors. Wärtsilä NACOS Platinum Naval Navigation offers full interfacing capabilities with Combat Management, Platform Management, and Integrated Automation Systems, plus INS and more. It enables full integration between Naval Navigation and IPMS, while the Naval Navigation function may be interfaced with a variety of other sensors and sub-systems. Wärtsilä NACOS Platinum Naval Navigation is based on components certified for the marine environment. MIL STD components are optional. Quality assurance of software development and documentation follow MIL STD guidelines. The system may be designed according to customer requirements in order to deliver optimal performance and possibly reduce manning requirements.

System upgrades & refits

To extend the life of your current automation and/or navigation systems we offer both hardware and software upgrades and refits. Most of our previous generation systems have available upgrades based on standard upgrade kits. If required, we can also offer tailor made upgrades for those customers needing specialised features and functionalities.

If you feel that an upgrade will improve the performance of your installation, or if you have any questions concerning the various possibilities, kindly contact our sales department.

Carrying out refitting work on ships already in operation can be challenging, especially when the ship's schedule makes it difficult to arrange extended dock time. Our 25 years of experience in retrofitting ships in need of mid-life upgrading ensures efficient service and minimizes downtime.

  • Minimizes downtime
  • Improved operation
  • Reduced maintenance costs

Quality System

Wärsilä Valmarine has implemented a Quality System that complies with the Quality Management System requirements specified in NS-EN ISO 9001:2008.

We are fully committed to meeting or exceeding our customers expectations, and achieving our objective of being a preferred supplier.

Meeting this commitment requires management and employees to work together as a team, establishing objectives to support this quality commitment, and continually reviewing our performance in meeting these objectives.

The marine reference list for our Automation and Navigation systems contains more than 700 systems in operation."

To enable operators and maintenance personnel to take full advantage of the properties inherent to our automation and navigation systems, we recommend our training programs. These programs cover everything from basic system understanding and operation to advanced operating and maintenance know-how. The training sessions can also be tailored according to specific customer needs.

The training courses at our location are repeated with a common program, thus allowing ship owners to send only a few employees at a time for training.

The training include two days of operator training and two days of maintenance/technical training (TR-1). Operators can decide to participate only in the operator training course if they wish (TR-2). The course will have a maximum of 10 participants and a minimum of three.

Our modern and well equipped training centre is located in Drammen, Norway.

Upon request, separate training courses for individual ship owners can be arranged in Drammen, onboard ship, or at the owner's onshore office as required.
