Keeping the Power Flowing

Respected Hydropower Expert Jim Kerr Joins New Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial Solutions Team as Technical Manager

Jim KerrKerr will continue to build upon recent research and development projects for Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial Solutions, when he acted as Senior Hydro Consultant.  Now, as Technical Manager, Jim will continue to develop strategic business relationships with Global Hydro OEM’s and other industry-leading service providers.

Based in the U.S., Kerr brings 34 years of experience in the Hydropower industry.  From project engineering and management to senior mechanical engineering, he has expertise in working with consultants, vendors, owners, and regulatory agencies.  His design leadership experience encompasses all aspects of the hydroelectric industry and he has served as a senior agency engineer responsible for establishing and updating national design standard practices.

“Now Jim is a permanent member of the team, this will only strengthen Wärtsilä’s strategic development in this sector.  We are already closing the gap between existing product and service providers.  We can offer a comprehensive solution which is completely new to this market, and provide value through innovation,” said Harald Brodmann, Global Segment Manager, Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial.

Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial Solutions can provide innovative OEM products and solutions for New-Build Providers and Operators that optimise both environmental and economic performance.  As part of the Global Wärtsilä Corporation, Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial Solutions will utilise its global engineering, manufacturing and service capabilities to provide the best solutions possible.  No other provider currently has the capability to offer a full range of solutions such as this on this scale.

Jim said, “I’m excited to help the hydro industry make use of Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial’s extensive service, manufacturing and repair capabilities. Wärtsilä’s extensive background in marine repair will translate very well to the hydro industry.”

Jim Kerr and the Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial team will be at Hydrovision International 2015 held in Portland, OR, in July.  For more information on Wärtsilä Hydro and Industrial Solutions contact hydroandindustrial@wartsila.com.
