Wärtsilä ELAC VANGUARD

Navy vessels are exposed to numerous underwater threats like mines or other obstacles as well as coral reefs or shoals. These threats cannot be detected by radar or camera systems.

Wärtsilä ELAC Nautik closes this security gap with the next generation forward looking 3D active sonar Wärtsilä ELAC Vanguard enhanced. By combining 3D mine avoidance capabilities with a forward looking bottom mapping mode for tactical seabed survey, ELAC VANGUARD greatly enhances the navigation safety of any military surface vessel.

Wärtsilä ELAC Vanguard is available as a compact 70 kHz version for installation on a hoisting gear or a 30 kHz long range version for installation in a sonar dome or bulbous bow.

    The ELAC Vanguard is a military system. The inboard electronic components are type tested acc. to the following standards:

    • EMC acc. to VG 95373 boundary class 3 (LGN19) or MIL-STD 461G (EE96)
    • Airborne noise level of the electronic units ≤ 55 dB(A)
    • Airborne noise level of the operating hoisting gear acc. to DIN 45635, ≤ 85 dB(A)
    • Degree of protection acc. to DIN 40050  IP 44 (LGN 19) and IP 23 (EE96)

    The Hoisting gear LAG 37 is of ruggedized industrial design and has been certified by GL.
