The Wärtsilä R5 Navigation System is designed to provide optimum accuracy and reliability for demanding shipboard applications. The system offers IMO compliant precision and a built-in 270 channel combined L1 GPS and L1 GLONASS receiver. The R4 dual-channel DGNSS beacon receiver is designed to meet all requirements for commercial marine applications. The system performs continuous RAIM (Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring) calculations. This allows the operator to set the required navigation accuracy and reliability via the CDU (Control and Display Unit). When position errors exceeds the preset limit, the CDU alerts the operator to take precautionary measures.

    Wärtsilä R5 Control and Display Unit
    Four RS422 interface channels with an unmatched variety of optional settings establish the Wärtsilä R5 Control and Display Unit to be used as the center of navigation in small boats or as a viable data supplier for other navigation aids like the Wärtsilä PLATINUM Integrated Navigation System or standalone electronic chart systems like the Wärtsilä ECDISPILOT. Due to its flexible output, including legacy data formats, Wärtsilä R5 Navigators can easily be retrofitted into existing systems. Furthermore it can easily be upgraded with additional features when new software becomes available.

    Beacon
    Navigation authorities around the world have installed DGNSS radiobeacon networks that broadcast free RTCM correction information. With the use of its built-in beacon demodulator, the DGNSS sensor uses these real-time corrections to deliver accurate, reliable positioning when in range of a beacon transmitter and can be controlled by the operator to accept RTCM data from external sources using the R5 Control and Display Unit (CDU).

    RAIM
    Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (RAIM) is a safety feature in the sensor unit which continuously verifies the integrity of the GNSS system to ascertain its accuracy and reliability. When position errors exceeds a preset limit, the CDU alerts the operator to take precautionary measures. This RAIM feature can be accessed by the operator using the CDU.

    R4 GNSS Navigation Sensor
    The R4 GNSS Navigation Sensor is a highprecision GNSS receiver, capable of receiving WAAS, EGNOS and MSAS differential corrections. The unit performs continuous RAIM calculations to monitor the integrity of the position data.

    R4 DGNSS Navigation Sensor
    The R4 DGNSS Navigation Sensor is the ultimate sensor for any commercial marine application. This product has all the features of the GNSS sensor and a dual channel beacon receiver for reception of IALA beacon differential corrections.
