About Wärtsilä in the Caribbean
We are your local Wärtsilä Services office in the Caribbean.Our organization was formed and incorporated in 1996 in Guaynabo Puerto Rico to develop the Power Plant business in the Caribbean and provide after sales services and support as the business developed. We moved offices later on to Carolina and started the Workshop Services area, which is ideal for maritime business in transit through the Island.
The geographic territory we serve consists of Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, the whole eastern Caribbean chain of islands starting from the United States Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands in the North, to Trinidad in the far South. The territory also includes the Dutch Caribbean territories of St. Maarten, Curacao, Aruba and Bonaire, the Republics of Guyana and Surinam on the South American mainland. Dominican Republic and Haiti are under the responsibility of Wärtsilä Dominicana. Both Wärtsilä Caribbean and Wärtsilä Dominicana operate under the Services Unit Caribbean.
We are a passionate team of 39 people, consisting of Service Engineers, Service Technicians, Sales and Administrative personnel based in Carolina, Puerto Rico. In addition, two fully owned subsidiaries, Wärtsilä Operations Guyana Inc. and Antigua Energy Operators, provide power plant operation and management in Guyana and Antigua with over 100 dedicated local employees.

- Longest Wärtsilä O&M: Existing in Guyana under Wärtsilä Operations Guyana, Inc., operating 4 Power Stations owned by Guyana Power & Light, with Field Service personnel located in Guyana.
- Electrical & Automation: Frequency conversion project in Guyana
- O&M in Antigua under Antigua Energy Operators, operating 2 Power Stations owned by Antigua Power Company.
- Strong relationship with Shipyards in Bahamas, Curacao and Trinidad
- Cooperation Agreement for Services in Grand Bahama Shipyard.
- Long Term Service Agreement (LTSA) in Curacao
We are committed to be a good corporate citizen in the Caribbean region. Since 1997, Wärtsilä Caribbean has been an active Associate Member of CARILEC (the association of Caribbean Electric Utilities). We are also full members of the Puerto Rico Shipping Association. Our involvement in social and community projects include donations to Carilec Hurricane Fund, the development of sporting facilities in Anguilla, a variety of community projects in Grenada, Saba, and in St. Maarten.
More recently we have engaged in community projects in Puerto Rico in which our employees have volunteered their time to share with special people such as Down syndrome children.
