NOR-SHIPPING 2017

May 30 - June 2 2017, Oslo, Norway

Wärtsilä at Nor-Shipping

Wärtsilä will present its broad offering of products, systems, and solutions at the Nor-Shipping 2017 exhibition and conference in Oslo. In particular, the company will be highlighting its development work in preparing for the future trends and needs of the marine industry.

One of the key elements of the new age of shipping is digitalisation, and Wärtsilä is at the forefront in utilising this technology to achieve greater efficiencies, improved safety, and lower operating costs for ship owners and operators around the world.  As the shipping sector evolves, future concepts are at the heart of Wärtsilä’s development work, with meaningful customer value as the guiding principle.

The company is also a leader in developing battery powered propulsion capabilities. Wärtsilä’s hybrid system involves the use of both batteries and conventional marine engines to create significant fuel savings, reduced maintenance costs, and a substantial reduction in exhaust emissions. The system optimises the overall operational performance of the vessel, and allows the engines to operate closer to their optimum design point where the efficiency is highest.

At Nor-Shipping 2017, Wärtsilä will be featuring this latest innovation in hybrid propulsion amongst other new product updates. Visit the Wärtsilä digital lounge at stand DO3-36 to discuss and learn about these exciting new solutions and upgrades.

A Sustainable Business Model for Future Shipping

The way that ships are being designed, built, and maintained is based on business models which include a ship operator, a shipbuilder, and equipment suppliers. How can we align these industry players?

We will provide an insight into Wärtsilä’s 12-year agreement with Carnival Corporation. This strengthens an existing partnership, and will enable continuous improvement efforts to maintain the highest possible levels of safety and reliability. The guaranteed asset performance agreement provides shared financial incentives and exposure based on outcomes for both companies.
