Dutch version

Wärtsilä makes substantial workshop investments and serves the Northern European region from the Netherlands

Schiedam, March 2017 - Wärtsilä expands its services in the workshop in Schiedam. Marine diesels can visit the workshop for full maintenance and overhaul, including their turbo-charger. Work can be performed in Schiedam and any other place in Northern Europe. From the Netherlands, all ports between Zeebrugge and Gdansk, and more, are being served. This applies to all types of engines, from large container vessels and tankers to fishing boats.

One stop shop solution
Where previously a vessel had to call on two workshops, now only one workshop offers all, as Wärtsilä can now service all types of turbo chargers. “We were aware of the fact that this could be carried out more efficiently”, says Arnold Feber, Business Development Manager Turbochargers at Wärtsilä. “We now offer a one-stop shop solution, which saves our customers a lot of time and is therefore a useful addition to our existing services. The 58,000 vessels that visit ‘our ports', can now turn to us for a full overhaul of our engines and the turbo chargers.” Another major advantage of the fact that their engines and turbo chargers for all brands can now be maintained by Wärtsilä, is that the responsibility for the quality monitoring is now centralised in one point.

“We offer full Wärtsilä warranty on the service and the parts. Some of our engineers have up to eighteen years of experience in the maintenance of turbo chargers; our factory trained turbo charger specialists ensure that full overhaul can be carried out within 24 hours", Feber continues. Wärtsilä always offers a tailor-made solution, just the way our customers have come to expect from us. This means that different types of maintenance also can be scheduled at the same time to further improve the efficiency.
