Wärtsilä has won power plant orders for over EUR 200 million in July and August. Wärtsilä´s largest ever power plant, with an output of over 250 MW, will be delivered to Honduras. Wärtsilä will also deliver a 100 MW power plant to Sri Lanka. The value of the Honduras and Sri Lanka plants is over EUR 150 million. Smaller orders have been received from various countries in addition to these projects.

Wärtsilä announced in July that it is reviewing its position and capacities within the Power Plants Division. The results of this review will be announced this autumn.
The customer in Honduras is Luz y Fuerza de San Lorenzo S.A. (Lufussa) in Pavana, Honduras, Central America. The power plant, which will run on heavy fuel oil, will enter commercial operation in two phases: the first phase in 12 months and the second phase three months later will bring the plant to its full capacity of 250.7 MW. The power will be distributed in the region of the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa, where it is urgently needed.

The power plant to be delivered to Sri Lanka will also run heavy fuel. It will be in commercial operation in about one year´s time. The customer is an IPP company, Lakdhanavi, which sells electricity to the grid.
