Wärtsilä's gas power plant order from Tanzania confirmed

Wärtsilä Corporation, Press release 25 July 2006 at 10:00 UTC+2

Wärtsilä signed an agreement in June to deliver a gas power plant to Tanzania. The approximately EUR 57 million order has now been confirmed. The plant will be supplied to the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) in 2007. With an output of 100 MW, the plant will provide electricity for the Tanzanian grid.

“Africa is a growing power plant market for Wärtsilä. The interest shown towards our gas power plants is of particular significance. This order for a gas power plant in Tanzania is a major opportunity alongside traditional oil power plant projects,” says Christoph Vitzthum, Group Vice President, Wärtsilä Power Plants.
