The marine sector stands on the threshold of rapid transformation, driven in part by emerging technologies that have the potential to truly reshape the world in which we live and operate, and also owing to the mounting pressure to meet environmental compliance requirements and the need to lower operating costs through achieving greater efficiencies.
At Wärtsilä, we understand both the complexity of the industry and the need to meet the new realities faced by vessel owners and operators the world over.
We were at the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo 2019 to highlight our development work in preparing for the future trends of the hybrid market.
Did you know that hybrid propulsion systems are anticipated to represent a significant percentage of all contracted vessels within the coming ten years?
We achieved…
Opening of our “Wärtsilä HY” test centre. Our integrated hybrid power module, “Wärtsilä HY”, combines engines, an energy storage system, and power electronics, all optimised to work together through a newly developed Energy Management System (EMS). This is the marine sector’s first hybrid power module of this type, thereby establishing a new industry benchmark in marine hybrid propulsion.
It was a pleasure to meet you at our stand to talk about hybrid, and a host of other solutions for wireless charging, autodocking and transit. Say HY to the future…
